Discover everything you need to safely enjoy the UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2024) – from ticket prices and stadium information to travel tips and fraud prevention advice. EURO 2024 is scheduled to take place in Germany from 14 June to 14 July 2024. The Euro tournaments are renowned for their vibrant atmosphere, bringing together fans from different countries to support their teams. The event is not just about football but also about celebrating the diversity and unity of European football culture.
After the final draw on 2 December 2023, fans can apply for tickets for any team in the UEFA EURO 2024 Ticket Portal. For a safer ticket-buying process, we have outlined the following points to keep in mind before purchasing your tickets:
Securing your Euro 2024 tickets
- Official Channels Only: Purchase your UEFA European Football Championship 2024 tickets exclusively through the official UEFA website or national football associations’ websites (see below). Beware of significant risks tied to third-party platforms, like fraud and inflated prices.
- Next Sales Phase: The second sales phase starts on 4 December. Just before that, the preliminary draw will unveil schedules for all qualified teams, such as England, Spain, France, and host Germany. This phase offers the last major opportunity to buy tickets, with one million tickets available.
- UEFA Ticket Lottery: Be aware that you will enter a lottery and cannot directly purchase tickets via the UEFA website. If you are fortunate in the draw, you will have the chance to buy tickets. If drawn, you must purchase all the tickets that have been assigned to you, or you will miss out on the opportunity entirely.
- Tickets for Supporters: National football associations of qualified teams sell tickets to their supporters, such as members of their fan clubs. Refer to your nation’s association website for how it distributes its ticket quota.
- Final Opportunities: The last chances to buy tickets will be in March and May 2024, along with a last-minute sale during the tournament.
- Digital Tickets: UEFA exclusively sells digital tickets, requiring users to download the UEFA ticket app.
Prices of the Football Tournament
Ticket options range from the most expensive “Prime Seats”, offering optimal views, to the budget-friendly “Fans First” category.
Ticket prices fluctuate based on factors like the match and seat category. They begin at €30 for group match seats and reach €2,000 for premium Final seats.
It is important to note that these prices are subject to change. Consult the official UEFA ticket FAQ before entering the ticket lottery.
The Ticket Resale Platform
UEFA will establish a resale platform accessible through EURO2024.com/tickets, which is set to be operational in spring 2024. Notably, tickets on this platform must be sold at face value.
The official resale platform is a relatively secure channel for fans to purchase tickets from others. This initiative minimises the risk of encountering invalid, fraudulent, or overpriced tickets, fostering a more secure ticket exchange environment.
Be Vigilant for Potential Fraud During EURO 2024
Large-scale events such as the Euro 2024 attract criminals. Please be vigilant. The Network of European Consumer Centres will promptly issue warnings concerning any identified specific fraudulent activities. Meanwhile, we recommend adhering to the following guidelines for a secure Euro 2024 experience:
- Safe Ticket Procurement: Buy your tickets from the official Euro 2024 sales website, “euro2024.com/tickets,” or the official resale platform, set to be available from spring 2024.
- Phishing Awareness: Exercise caution against potential phishing attempts. Always verify the sender’s address and the authenticity of links in emails claiming to be from the UEFA. The official sender address is “@uefa.com.”
- Trusted Accommodations: Opt for accommodation listed on reputable booking platforms, selecting providers with positive reviews. Stick to the payment system provided by the platform. Communicating and paying outside these systems significantly increases the risk of fraud. Do not do it!
- Government Travel Advice: Entry to Germany is permitted for all travel purposes (including tourism and visits). It is no longer necessary to present proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or a negative test result for entry to Germany, however we recommend that before embarking on your journey, always check the travel advice for Germany. Travelling in Germany During EURO 2024
With heightened demand for trains, flights, hotels, and accommodations expected during Euro 2024, securing your bookings promptly after purchasing your tickets is advisable.
However, many travel bookings are not yet available. In Germany, you can reserve high-speed ICE trains up to 180 days in advance, while airline tickets are typically accessible six to twelve months ahead.
For budget-conscious travel during Euro 2024, consider the following tips:
- Economical Bus Travel: Generally, buses are the most budget-friendly option for covering long distances in Germany.
- Private Rail Companies: For long-distance train journeys, consider private rail companies. They are often cheaper than market leader “Deutsche Bahn” (DB). Please note that private companies only serve selected routes.
- “Deutschland-Ticket” for Local and Regional Travel: Several tournament cities are easily travelable using regional trains. Opt for the “Deutschland-Ticket” provided by Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s largest railway company, for local and regional public transportation. Priced at €49, this ticket allows month-long travel. Remember that it does not cover long-distance trains (ICE, IC, EC).
- Discount Cards: If opting for Deutsche Bahn, explore the “Trial BahnCard 25“, which provides a 25% discount on all 2nd class tickets for three months.
- Cancel the Subscription: Both “Deutschland-Ticket” and “BahnCard” are subscriptions. The “Deutschland-Ticket” operates on a monthly subscription basis. To avoid an automatic extension for another month, cancel the subscription promptly after purchase. The “Trial BahnCard” requires cancellation at least six weeks before the subscription period concludes.

Booking Accommodations During the European Championship in Germany
It is essential to be aware of potential challenges related to securing accommodations. The tournament is expected to prompt a significant surge in accommodation prices, especially in host cities like Cologne, Stuttgart, and others.
Exercise caution when securing accommodations, as the European Consumer Centres anticipate the possibility of fraudulent schemes offering fake lodgings during Euro 2024 in Germany. To avoid problems, consider the following recommendations:
- Choose Reputable Booking Platforms:
Opt for well-established booking platforms when reserving accommodations. Select providers with a track record of positive reviews from previous customers. If possible, prioritize options that offer cancellation flexibility and avoid making advance payments whenever feasible.
- Exercise Caution with Private Rentals:
When considering private rentals, exercise added diligence. Ensure that the landlord has positive reviews on the chosen platform and complies with all rules and regulations. Reject any requests for unofficial payment methods, such as “PayPal friends and family,” as these could indicate potentially fraudulent activities with a heightened risk of financial loss.
- Explore Hotel Booking Options:
For hotel bookings, it might be advantageous to explore the hotel’s official website. Booking directly can sometimes provide the opportunity to secure accommodations earlier than external platforms and, in some cases, even at a more favourable rate. However, it is crucial to verify that you are on the hotel’s official website to avoid falling victim to misleading advertisements in search engines that mimic direct links to the hotel. Such deceptive practices could lead to overpayment and complications with your reservation.
By following these guidelines and exercising due diligence, you can enhance your chances of securing suitable accommodations for the European Championship in Germany while minimizing the risks associated with potential fraudulent schemes. Stay vigilant, prioritise reputable platforms, and enjoy a seamless experience during this exciting football event.
